About the SpringIt was on October 10, 1996, that the Blessed Virgin, sent by God, granted her sons and daughters new celestial graces in Itapiranga. Appearing to Maria do Carmo, in the morning of this day, She told her to tell her husband to take her and her son Edson to a place indicated by Her, of which he knew and where a spring existed. When they arrived at the place indicated by the Virgin, they began praying the rosary at 3:00 p.m., as She had requested. Edson describes how the event occurred:

About the ChapelAt the beginning of the apparitions, the Blessed Virgin appeared to Maria do Carmo at her residence in the city of Manaus, and showed her during an apparition a plot of property belonging to her husband located in Itapiranga, a city with a distance of 5 hours from Manaus, via highway. Indicating a place, the Mother of God told her:

About the St. Michael Apparition Site
Before arriving at the chapel, there is a murici tree, where the Virgin told Edson that St. Michael the Archangel stays constantly in this place, guarding and protecting the holy place. And all children who go to the chapel, when they pass this place, must pray to St. Michael the Archangel, with one Our Father, three Hail Marys, one Glory be to the Father, asking for his protection, as also of St. Gabriel and St. Raphael. St. Michael the Archangel, in order to show Edson his presence in this place, during an apparition, deigned to appear before this murici tree, and whenever there is an apparition he comes to lead him to this place. Other times, it is Our Lady who leads him and asks him to pray to St. Michael the Archangel.
About the Prayer FieldAt the beginning of the apparitions, Our Lady and Jesus appeared many times before the cross placed on the hill near the chapel. As many pilgrims flocked to Itapiranga, this place was getting too small to accommodate so many people, and this worried Edson's father a lot. Everyone wanted to be as close as possible to the place of the apparition when Our Lady arrived and this was impossible because the place was very narrow and on a hill. It was then that Edson's father asked him to ask Our Lady if there would be any problem of him making an open field on the land where prayers could be held with the pilgrims and the apparitions.

About the Holy Cross Hill
In Itapiranga, near the chapel on a small hill, Our Lady asked Edson on March 19, 1995, during an apparition, to place a cross there. In the message of this day the Virgin had said to him:
