About the Prayer Field
At the beginning of the apparitions, Our Lady and Jesus appeared many times before the cross placed on the hill near the chapel. As many pilgrims flocked to Itapiranga, this place was getting too small to accommodate so many people, and this worried Edson's father a lot. Everyone wanted to be as close as possible to the place of the apparition when Our Lady arrived and this was impossible because the place was very narrow and on a hill. It was then that Edson's father asked him to ask Our Lady if there would be any problem of him making an open field on the land where prayers could be held with the pilgrims and the apparitions. Edson, during the apparition, mentioned this problem and the request of his father to the Mother of God, to which she replied:
"Yes, you can do as you wish. There is no problem. I can appear in any place."
After this message, it was then that they made a prayer field, where today apparitions occur in Itapiranga since 1998. At the request of the Virgin, the field is called: Prayer Field of the Holy Family.
A long time ago, at the beginning of the apparitions, when the prayer field had not yet existed, Our Lady had appeared to Edson in this place and told him that a great crucifix should be erected there. She also told him that one day he would know the reason. So now, Edson understands that this prayer field was already in the Virgin's plans. In the place that She asked the great crucifix to be placed will be the place where her final apparitions will occur and where her great Sanctuary will be built in the Amazons, the largest Sanctuary of the Northern Region of Brazil.
